Introducing the Mohawk Maiden Accessible — Where the Water Welcomes Everyone

Published on 18 June 2026 at 12:32

We believe that a day on the water should be available to everyone, and we're proud to take a meaningful step toward making that a reality. The Mohawk Maiden Accessible is our specially modified pontoon boat, designed to open up the beauty of the water to guests who use wheelchairs.

Boarding Made Easy

Pontoons are by nature accessible and easy to board. But to take it a bit further, we removed the furniture from our original pontoon boat, the Mohawk Maiden, replaced it with moveable furniture that can be rearranged or removed to accommodate a wheelchair, and replaced the door with a boarding ramp. Finally, thanks to Justin Smith with Northeast Mobility in Albany, we were able to add an opening to the safety toe rail on the Hudson Crossing Park dock at no cost to the Park to accommodate the ramp.

Getting on board is simple and dignified. Our boarding ramp is 30 inches wide, and the door opening is a bit wider, making the transition from dock to deck as smooth as possible. We've worked hard to ensure that the experience feels welcoming from the very first step — or roll.

Wheelchair Compatibility

The Mohawk Maiden Accessible can accommodate most manual wheelchairs comfortably. For guests using electric or power wheelchairs, please reach out to us so we can discuss your specific chair's dimensions and weight. Every situation is a little different, and we want to make sure we can serve you safely and confidently.

Plan Ahead for the Best Experience

If wheelchair accessibility is needed for your visit, please notify us ahead of time when making your reservation. This allows our team to prepare properly and ensure everything goes smoothly on the day of your trip. A little planning goes a long way toward creating a perfect day on the water.

Everyone deserves to feel the breeze off the river and enjoy the scenery from the deck. The Mohawk Maiden Accessible is our commitment to making that happen. We can't wait to welcome you aboard.
