Exciting Changes at Mohawk Maiden Cruises

Published on 5 June 2025 at 16:00

We've gotten off on a slower start than we hoped as heavy rains and flooding conditions delayed the opening of the Canal System, but the 2025 season has finally begun. While the Caldwell  Belle is for sale and will only be used on a limited basis later in the season, we are excited to announce the addition of the Mohawk Maiden Too, a 20-foot Bentley Legacy pontoon, to our fleet. She will serve as the primary vessel, offering both scheduled and private cruises.

Our original pontoon, the Mohawk Maiden, will continue offering free rides on the first Sunday of the month at the Waterford Farmer's Market and will be based primarily out of Waterford. She will come back to Schuylerville for private cruises of up to 12 people, which would necessitate using  two vessels.

We have a new website and a new booking platform, so bear with us as we iron out the kinks in that. Unless otherwise noted, our Schuylerville pontoon cruises will originate at our dock located behind the Caldwell Belle, so look for us on your left before you get to the Belle.

We are offering open pontoon tours in Schuylerville at 2 pm most Saturdays, reservations required. Other days will be added as we assess demand. Regular days for the Mohawk Maiden to be in Waterford will be announced. Private cruises for up to six passengers will be offered in both places the entire season and can be booked by emailing Captain Marla at mohawkmaidencruises@gmail.com. If you have more in your party, we can accommodate up to 12 passengers by utilizing both pontoon vessels. (We'll need extra lead time for those cruises in order to get both vessels in the same place!)

We’re also pleased to be working with both Hudson Crossing Park and Adirondack Ultra Cycling  again this year for free On the Canals events. We typically open availabilities for the Hike and History Cruises with Hudson Crossing Park a month at a time. The July availabilities are now open, and may be booked from our website. Adirondack Ultra Cycling is handling booking for the Bike and Ride events. You can go to http://www.adkultracycling.com/canals/ to sign up.

Here’s to a great 2025 season! Come see us on the Champlain Canal!
